The correction of small defects in the skin. It is used to treat fine and deep creases and small depressed scars. It is also effective in temporarily making the lips fuller.
How is it done?
A special solution of hyaluronan (which is a structural component of the skin) is injected with a very fine needle exactly at the site of the defect, thus filling it out and reducing the depth of the crease or scar.

Unlikely, but it can occur if a small blood vessel is injured by the needle. If this happens the bruising will last for a few days.
Is there any swelling?

In the lips particularly, swelling may be uneven producing a slightly lopsided appearance for a few days.
What pain will there be?
Pain at time of injection only.

How long does it take to recover?

Two thirds of the injection is likely to be still present at one year after the procedure. Top-up injections can be done at any time.
